Five Porcelain Plates
Five designs by Lawrence Ferlinghetti transferred to 10" porcelain plates. The entire edition is limited to 12 plates per design. All of the plates are hand-signed and numbered by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Released in 2009.
It so happened that across the street from where I was staying in the town of Sablet north of Avignon in France in the spring of 2008, there was the very fine ceramics studio of Jacqueline Ducerf. She consented to teach me how to create plates of my own design. In the process, I developed a series of drawings for dinner plates which I executed on Limoges china in the Ducerf studios. After I returned to the U.S. with the finished plates, my friend Soheyl Dahi offered to produce a very limited American edition of the same plates, and this is what has been done. There are five different designs, and the American edition has been so faithfully reproduced that one cannot tell them from the French originals.
